Brandon Aiyuk calls out Jayden Daniels once again within a few days. Aiyuk wants Daniels’ help to seal his dream move to the Washington Commanders.

Aiyuk is waging an online crusade against the San Francisco 49ers. The 28-year-old wants to quit the Bay Area franchise because the organization is unwilling to pay him his salary.

If the Niners release him, he can join the Commanders and link up with Daniels, his former Arizona State quarterback. In a recent video, Aiyuk asks Daniels to respond to his messages on social media. In the video, Aiyuk says:

…hit my phone bro!!! It’s important. Money is on the line.

Up until last week, Aiyuk’s target was the 49ers. Then all of a sudden, Daniels and his mother, Regina Jackson, found themselves in his crosshairs.

Daniels refused to respond to his plea on social media and asked him to call him. But Aiyuk is not ready to abandon his ways, as posting on social media is now his only source of income since the 49ers aren’t paying him.

Aiyuk’s damaged ACL required intense rehab to make it back in time for the 2025 season. According to George Kittle, he saw Aiyuk at the 49ers facility for a few weeks before he disappeared.

He continued his rehab privately. The 49ers expected him to report back to the team during training camp. However, he refused to check in and missed the entire season. As punishment, the 49ers voided his 2026 guarantees.

Aiyuk had blamed the 49ers for wrongfully blocking his paycheck. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler addressed Aiyuk’s situation on a recent episode of SportsCenter.

So right now, where is somebody who loves him who can just take that phone away, put it in a safe far away at this point?… He obviously is trying to force the 49ers’ hand to cut him, but they haven’t done that; they haven’t tipped their hand. He’s on the left squad list, so he doesn’t count against the 53-man roster. They simply don’t have to do anything right now.

The Niners drafted Aiyuk 25th overall in 2020. Aiyuk finally broke out in 2022, recording 78 receptions for 1015 yards and 8 touchdowns. The Niners waited one more year before activating his fifth-year option. In 2024, he caught 75 passes for 1342 yards and scored 7 touchdowns in 16 appearances.

Ahead of the 2025 season, Aiyuk signed a four-year, $120 million contract extension even though he was ready to leave the team and join Daniels in Washington. Colin Cowherd advised the 49ers to move on from Aiyuk.

I’ve been saying this on the Niners for years— cut bait, move on… That’s why the 49ers roster has become old, dramatic, brittle, and expensive. Brandon Aiyuk goes on Instagram and basically blows up any opportunity to play for a tremendous young quarterback, Jayden Daniels. The Commanders dodged and bullet here. That stuff is just bad and I wish the Niners would have moved on years ago.

The Commanders drafted Daniels second overall. In his rookie season, Daniels threw for 4,459 yards and 31 touchdowns, leading the Commanders to a 12-5 record. After decades, they reached the NFC Championship game, but lost to the eventual champions, the Philadelphia Eagles.

In year two, Aiyuk went 2-5 before suffering a season-ending elbow injury. Per the latest news, Daniels will participate in the upcoming training camp.
