The San Francisco 49ers players will have to handle practices without head coach Kyle Shanahan for a while after a car crash left him injured. But one player who will not miss him is Brandon Aiyuk.

The wide receiver has been at odds with his team for nearly two years. After performing admirably in Shanahan’s scheme to earn an All-Pro selection, the 28-year-old has held the belief that he does not want to play for them anymore.

Despite the team handing over a monster deal, Aiyuk’s attitude towards the 49ers has not changed, which eventually led to be placed on the reserve list.

That means that he cannot be traded until either the organization reinstates him or he applies for reinstatement. Instead of doing the latter, the Arizona State alum has been busy calling out the franchise and its past decisions. Now, after news of Shanahan’s car crash came to light, he decided to use his fingers.

You can’t win the race if you crash out… Keep yo head up and stay in yo own lane. You gone win.

Brandon Aiyuk wrote on IG

This was his way of mocking his head coach, since everything he wrote was a direct insinuation of the crash. Kyle Shanahan crashed into another vehicle after he did not keep his head up and veered into the other lane.

These details have not been available to the public ever since the news of his car crash was first reported. Brandon Aiyuk took shots at the 46-year-old after the latter detailed how he got into the accident.

Kyle Shanahan takes accountability for car crash

This car crash took place on July 14th, but came to light yesterday. Knowing reporters will be swarming for answers, Kyle Shanahan made his way to speak to a handful of them. When asked how the other driver hit him, he replied:

Kyle Shanahan confirms he was the culprit

I hit her. I don’t know why it was reported that way… I was going 20 miles an hour. I was not on my phone, but I dropped my phone and it was stuck in my seats. It’s on my lap and it slid off. And I went down to look for it and took my eyes off the road for two seconds. And as I was coming up, the airbags hit me in my face, and they broke my nose. And then they said the visor really gashed me… I took my eyes off the road looking for my phone, and my car veered into someone.

Kyle Shanahan told Nick Wagoner

He was refuting the police’s story that a 21-year-old woman was the culprit in this accident. Basically, he gave an account of how he went down to look for his phone, only to accidentally veer into the woman’s lane and collide headfirst.

Since there was no criminal intent from either side, this will only lead to fines and a lengthy recovery process for Shanahan. This revelation is what gave Brandon Aiyuk the idea to mock who will soon be his former head coach.

Police deny preferential treatment for Kyle Shanahan

When this revelation came out, it was evident that everyone would question why the officers at the scene were quick to place the blame on the young woman. ESPN’s Nick Wagoner got in touch with the Palo Alto Police Department for some answers.

There was a clerical error in the preparation of the report that was transmitted to the State database… Neither party in this situation was provided preferential treatment.

Nick Wagoner quoted Lt. Nicolas Martinez

If anything, the Palo Alto Police Department needs to fix this, as many were wondering why the details of the crash were not available on the state database even though the incident took place some time ago.

It seems question marks were being raised about whether the police tried to cover it up for Shanahan and the 49ers until ESPN’s Adam Schefter first got his hands on the news.
