Brandon Aiyuk Fuels Trade Speculation with Commanders Hat Appearance

The never-ending drama surrounding the San Francisco 49ers and their wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk continues to sore even as the league is soon to enter a new season. Aiyuk’s latest social media activity puts fresh oil to already lit trade rumors.
Even though he hasn’t played a game since October 2024, after tearing his MCL and ACL, Kyle Shanahan kept Aiyuk on the roster. The 49ers voided Aiyuk’s 2026 guarantees in November due to non-participation. He declined to file an NFLPA grievance and was later placed on the reserve squad list. Now, it seems both parties might finally get a proper closure after ample back-and-forth discussions.
On Saturday (June 6), the 28-year-old WR posted two images of himself on Instagram. In those pictures, Aiyuk is seen wearing a Washington Commanders hat. In the second image, he specifically drew attention.
The intentions, this time, could not have been more direct than this. Over the two seasons, Aiyuk and 49ers have given ample hints of their mutual dissatisfaction, some examples being: the WR sitting out of the 2025 practice sessions and, 49ers refusing to tweak the contract. With the latest image pose, Aiyuk might have closed the 49ers’ door for once and all.

Aiyuk has, on multiple times, displayed affection toward Jayden Daniels and how he has led the Commanders since entering the league. To the unknown, Aiyuk and Daniels are close friends and were teammates at Arizona State.

Earlier, Aiyuk had started following the Commanders on social media alongside Daniels and his wife. With the latest “stunt”, the WR seems to be forcing his stake in the Washington-based franchise.
Arrest warrant issued for Brandon Aiyuk for rash driving
Even if Brandon Aiyuk has not taken the field for more than a year, headlines are not leaving him. He is facing a new legal challenge after Northern California authorities issued an arrest warrant linked to a speeding incident that gained attention months ago through a video posted online.
According to The New York Post, the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that Aiyuk was wanted on a misdemeanor exhibition-of-speed charge stemming from footage he uploaded to YouTube in December 2025. The footage allegedly showed him driving a Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing at triple-digit speeds on Santa Clara roads.
Authorities launched an investigation after the video surfaced, with the case later being referred to prosecutors. Aiyuk was allegedly seen overspeeding near Levi’s Stadium. While he publicly apologized afterward, the inquiry ultimately led to a misdemeanor charge and an arrest warrant.
The legal matter comes amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding Aiyuk’s future in San Francisco, despite the lucrative extension he signed in 2024. The WR has recorded 4,305 receiving yards and a total of 25 touchdowns since his debut in NFL in 2020.
