This week, Brooks Koepka will tee off for a third week running. He will be playing at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson. Ahead of this event, the former LIV Golf star revealed one major advantage the PGA Tour events have over his previous circuit.
Koepka, the former World No.1, was one of the marquee names on the PGA Tour who left for LIV Golf. As per reports, he signed a deal worth more than $100 million to join the breakaway tour in 2022.
After spending 4 years with them and winning 5 events, he stunned the world by leaving LIV in December 2025. In the new year, he got reinstated to the PGA Tour and became the first high-profile star to return to the tour.
While Koepka has struggled a bit with his game, he has been welcomed back with open arms by many. At the moment, he is one of the few who have experienced and know what it feels like playing on both tours.
As he prepares for the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, he opened up about a major advantage the Tour has over LIV Golf. He pointed out the access to the equipment truck and claimed that he could make any changes. He mentioned that it was easier to make any changes here, no matter how small or big they were.
Just to have so many options, it’s maybe a little bit overwhelming, at the same time, because access to equipment trucks. … If you need to make a slight change in something, it’s a whole lot easier, or you damage a club during play, to get a replacement, a shaft change, whatever it might be. Just more access to everything, I think, has been a huge advantage.
Brooks Koepka told the reporters
Brooks Koepka was asked if any LIV players have reached out to him to ask about his transition back to the PGA Tour but says he's changed his phone number. Speaking of Koepka, he has struggled with his putting this year and has changed his putter several times. Ahead of the tournament this week, he is ranked at 141 in the Strokes Gained: Putting category.
This week, he will be using a Scotty Cameron Fastback 1.5 and will be hoping for some good results as he chases his first win after returning to the Tour.
Brooks Koepka claims there is a newfound passion for him after dramatic return to the PGA Tour
Brooks Koepka stunned the golf world following his departure from LIV Golf. As he prepares for his 11th start of the year, the 5-time major champion claimed that there is a newfound passion for him after his return.

Koepka could have skipped the event this week. However, with the penalty he got, he cannot play in every PGA Tour event.
In the press conference, he highlighted this and expressed that he thus takes up every opportunity that he gets. He seems to be enjoying this grind at the moment.
I’ve kind of fallen back in love with this. I’m enjoying the grind. I’m enjoying battling it out here. Yeah, it’s just a newfound love, a newfound passion for the game, and something that I’m really, really enjoying being back on the road and grinding it out and trying to find it in the dirt.
Brooks Koepka said
Brooks Koepka had to explain to the local media why he was playing this weeks CJ Cup Byron Nelson while most other big name players are skipping it, "With my penalty, I'm not allowed to play every event and if I get the chance to tee it up I want to play." pic.twitter.com/kDiBaGnEFP

At the Farmers Insurance Open in January, Koepka claimed that he had fallen back in love with golf. In his first non-major start on the Tour since 2022, he finished T56.
In 10 events this year, he has made the cut in 7 of them, including the two major championships. He finished T12 at the Masters Tournament, while a disappointing final round saw him finish T55 at the PGA Championship.
This week, he will tee off with Si Woo Kim and defending champion Scottie Scheffler. While Kim is from South Korea, he currently resides in Dallas. So Koepka will have to go against two of them, who will have home-field advantage.
