Russell Westbrook has been an easy target of the blame of late, especially by Skip Bayless, thanks to his single-digit scoring performances. He bounced back a bit on Saturday night, but that did not change the fate of the Los Angeles Lakers. They took another loss, this time an embarrassing 37 point blowout to the Denver Nuggets. The Lakers lost 96-133 on road Saturday night. The Lakers have now lost three in a row.

The result of the game was almost sealed by the end of the 3rd quarter when the Lakers walked back into the locker room trailing by 23 points, 79-102. Come 4th quarter, the Lakers trailed by as much as 40 points at one point in the quarter. They were not able to cut the deficit to a respectable minimum from there, ending the night with a 37 point loss.

Westbrook was finally able to score in double digits (1st time in four games) as he had 19 points with a respectable efficiency of 46%. He had his 3rd turnover-free game of the season. LeBron James scored team-high 25 points for the Lakers playing at Power Forward in the game. Dwight Howard who has been in rumors of being traded away started at the Center position for the Lakers. Malik Monk, who has been the go-to scorer after LeBron, had a bad game, adding only four points in the game.

Skip Bayless doesn’t blame Russell Westbrook for the blowout loss

Skip Bayless didn’t seek Russell Westbrook to blame for the loss as he tweeted after the game – “At least you can’t blame this one on Westbrick”. Skip pointed out what is evident after seeing the box score. The Lakers didn’t play well as a team and no one showed up to support LeBron James.

The Lakers’ young core of Austin Reaves, Malik Monk, and Talen Horton Tucker combined for just 12 points in the game. The efficiency was horrible as the Lakers shot 43% from the field, 33% from downtown, and 73% from the charity line. Only three Lakers were able to score in double digits.
