Well, honestly, it’s great to have a lot of people supporting me. I’m glad that the ballkids… I have a lot of fans & that they support me. For me, it’s always great. I’m trying to inspire them in a really good way, in the behavior and on the way that I play, the way that I approach every match. When I see them around, I try to just talk with them. It was a great moment when I saw them. So for me, it is great, and I’m happy to know it.

Alcaraz is known for having a smile on his face on the tennis courts, regardless of the circumstances. However, he has also had some out-of-the-box moments – when he smashed his racket during his loss to Gael Monfils at the Cincinnati Open.

With this victory, Alcaraz improved his record against Medvedev to 6-2. He has won six of their last seven matches. This season, his record against top five players has also been remarkable, standing at 7-1. At just 21 years old, Alcaraz has now surpassed world No. 1 Jannik Sinner for the most wins against top five players in 2024. Both players had been tied at six wins before this match.

Three of Alcaraz’s wins against top-five opponents this year were against Medvedev. He also defeated Sinner twice and has one win each over Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic. Notably, Djokovic is the only top-five player to beat Alcaraz this year, winning in the Olympic gold medal match. That was the Serb’s only title of this season so far.
