Carlos Sainz is one of the highly-rated drivers on the Formula One grid and is believed many that deserve a seat at the top teams. The Spaniard was hoping to extend his contract with Ferrari before the the start of 2024 season in Bahrain but has been taken aback by the entry of Lewis Hamilton in the story.
The Spaniard was shocked by the news of him leaving the Scuderia after the end of the 2024 season, as he believed that he was the right guy for the Italian outfit. Hamilton has signed a contract with Ferrari and will be replacing Sainz in the other seat at Ferrari. This has left Sainz to look for a new team for whom he would race from 2025 onwards.
Sainz claims that it is not a good feeling to be unable to extend his contract with the Italian team as he had given his all for the team in the previous 3 seasons. Also, it shouldn’t be forgotten that he was the only non-Red Bull driver to win in 2023, such a high-caliber driver left to be a free agent in 2025 shows the ruthfulness of the sport.
It's certainly not the best feeling to start the season. But the moment I put on the helmet in Bahrain and take to the track, the only sensation I'll feel will be the desire to go faster and faster - and also aim for victory in the world championship.Sainz said, as reported by Motorsports.com.
How did Carlos Sainz’s career begin in F1?
Sainz was given a seat in the Toro Rosso(now VISA CashApp RB) back in 2015 alongside Max Verstappen. Sainz finished the year in 15th and moved to Renault(now Alpine) mid-way through the season the following year.
Sainz became a well-respected driver in the midfield teams and made the jump to McLaren in 2019. He earned the title of being a “Smooth Operator” behind the wheel of his car following his radio celebrations. He was given a contract by Ferrari to join the Italian forces from the 2021 season onwards and accepted this proposal.
After joining the Italian outfit, he was seen lacking in qualifying pace against Charles Leclerc but was still a consistent point scorer and brought wins and podiums back to Maranello. Now the Spaniard’s career lies in a pendulum as no one knows for which team he will drive for in the 2025 season.
