Daniel Dubois has previously lost to Oleksandr Usyk in 2023. Dubois’ trainer, Don Charles, recently launched a scathing attack on the Ukrainian heavyweight champion. Charles’ frustration centers around a controversial fifth-round body shot that Dubois landed on Usyk. The referee ruled the subsequent shot a low blow. Here is what happened:
According to Don Charles, the punch was legal, and Oleksandr Usyk exaggerated his reaction. He speculated that the heavyweight champion used the extended time to recover and regain control. The coach did not mince words during his recent interview with talkSPORT. Charles also questioned Usyk’s integrity, claiming he broke the Biblical Ten Commandments.

The coach challenged Usyk to a rematch, confident that ‘Dynamite’ could win if given a second chance under fairer circumstances. Dubois’ promoter, Frank Warren, has also supported a rematch. He believes that Daniel Dubois has grown as a fighter since their initial bout and would perform even better.
Oleksandr Usyk dedicates all his victories to God
Oleksandr Usyk is a devout Christian who attributes much of his boxing success to his faith in God. Following his win against Anthony Joshua in 2022, Usyk publicly praised God, stating, “My Lord is Jesus Christ,” and thanked everyone who had prayed for him during the fight.
The Ukrainian heavyweight’s faith has been a guiding force throughout his career. Usyk’s Christian faith has personal roots.
