CM Punk‘s ongoing WWE absence since Raw after WrestleMania was attributed to a schedule change in his dates over the summer. But earlier this week, a rumor started making the rounds on the internet that Punk wanted out of his WWE contract after being furious about something related to his wife, AJ Lee.

The said rumors were scoffed at internally, as per Fightful Select. The outlet noted that the creative plans for Lee were set from around the time she returned to WWE last September, and she completed that stretch at WrestleMania 42. The aforementioned report also added the people who worked directly with and around her never heard of those plans changing.

Now speaking of Punk, nobody that Fightful spoke to within WWE had heard anything about the ‘Best in the World’ wanting out of his contract. As for those assuming that the 47-year-old might’ve been asked by TKO to accept a pay cut, it didn’t appear to be the case either, as confirmed by several of Punk’s colleagues.

On top of everything, the report pointed at new merchandise being produced for CM Punk to prepare for his planned dates for the summer. In some more good news for his fans, it appears as if the ‘Second City Saint’ is on track to return to WWE television by the July 6 edition of Raw in Chicago. The revelation was made by WrestleVotes Radio via Fightful Select.

It was also noted that even though the aforementioned date wasn’t explicitly confirmed as Punk’s return, the general expectation called for him being back on WWE programming sooner rather than later. CM Punk will also provide commentary for A&E’s UFC Rivals on June 21. His previous public appearance came back in May when he attended the Ronda Rousey/Gina Carano fight at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.

Rhea Ripley discloses how CM Punk calmed her down before her SummerSlam 2024 match

It’s been well-established by now that CM Punk has mended some fences and fostered many new friendships since coming back to WWE in late 2023. A number of younger men and women in that locker room look up to him and have time and again vouched for his mentorship abilities. Speaking of Punk developing some lifelong bonds with certain co-workers, Rhea Ripley is one of them.

‘Mami’ shared in a recent interview with ESPN that the ‘Straight Edge Superstar’ gave her a much-needed pep talk backstage before she walked out for her match at SummerSlam 2024. Punk walked over to check on Ripley after realizing that she was a bit emotional and stressed out. The former AEW star’s kind gesture helped ‘The Eradicator’ get through her match with Liv Morgan.

This is where the former Judgment Day member not only lost her women’s world title to Morgan but also saw her then-boyfriend Dominik Mysterio dumping Ripley for Morgan in the immediate aftermath of that match. Meanwhile, CM Punk lost to Drew McIntyre on the same night.

It was Punk’s first match since suffering a torn triceps injury in the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble match. ‘The Second City Saint’, however, couldn’t secure a win in his return match that witnessed some crooked officiating from special guest referee Seth Rollins.

‘The Voice of the Voiceless’ won the World Heavyweight title at last year’s SummerSlam, beating Gunther for it. Now the big question is who he would face at this year’s SummerSlam. Some are hoping for WWE to deliver on CM Punk vs. Cody Rhodes, which was heavily teased on Raw after WrestleMania 42, when Punk and Rhodes had a segment.
