Last Saturday, the New York Knicks ended a 53-year championship drought by winning the NBA Finals 4-1 against the San Antonio Spurs. On Wednesday, New York Yankees’ Cody Bellinger gave his flowers to Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and the Knicks following their “amazing” victory.

The two Knicks stars were at Yankee Stadium. While donning the pinstripes of the AL East team, the two of them threw out the first ceremonial pitches before the showdown against the Chicago White Sox.

While Brunson threw with his left hand to No.25 J.C. Escarra, Hart showed off his pitching skills with a right arm throw to Max Schuemann. Both of them threw perfect strikes, leading to a huge roar from the crowd.

Some MVP (Most Valuable Player) chants also broke out at the ballpark. Brunson was named the MVP of the 2026 NBA Finals after he recorded 32.6 Points Per Game (PPG), 4.6 assists, and 4.2 rebounds.

After the game, Cody Bellinger hailed Brunson and Hart. While speaking with the reporters, the former MLB MVP expressed that he and the Yankees did watch the postseason and claimed it was “cool” to see them throw the first pitch.

Yeah that was cool. Obviously, we were all super tuned in to the series and to the postseason. What they were able to accomplish is pretty amazing.

The Knicks’ win marked the first time in more than a decade that a team from New York had won the championship across the “Big 4” leagues. The last time a New York team won a championship before this triumph of the Knicks was in 2012, when the New York Giants won the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots.

The Yankees had a chance to end his drought in 2024 when they reached the World Series for the first time since 2009. However, they lost 4-1 in the Fall Classic against the Los Angeles Dodgers, leaving them heartbroken.

Cody Bellinger and Yankees continue to win without Aaron Judge

When Aaron Judge was diagnosed with a rib fracture earlier this month, it seemed the New York Yankees would struggle offensively in his absence. However, that has not been the case. The team has continued to find ways to win without him. On Wednesday, Cody Bellinger was one of those who homered, which helped them to another victory.

After sweeping the Cleveland Guardians and taking 2 out of the 3 against the Toronto Blue Jays, the Yankees faced off against the Chicago White Sox. This year, the AL Central side has been on the rise and is in the mix for the division title.

The Yankees, though, proved to be too strong for them on Tuesday. The Bronx Bombers crushed them 12-2 to take the series opener.

In Game 2 of this series, Bellinger opened the scoring in the first inning. On a 1-1 pitch, the left-handed hitter smashed a 2-run home run to give the hosts a solid start, with Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart joining the broadcasting booth.

That was the 11th home run of the season for Bellinger. The former Dodgers star is once again looking like a true MVP following some slumps in recent years. He ended up going 3-for-4 in this game.

Further home runs from Paul Goldschmidt and Jazz Chisholm Jr. saw the Yankees emerge as 10-5 winners and win another series.

The Yankees have won 9 games out of the 12 since Judge went out of action. With the Tampa Bay Rays getting swept by the Dodgers, the Yanks are now 3.5 games ahead of their division rivals while sitting at the top with a 45-27 record.
