The New York Yankees suffered another major injury blow. On Monday, reports emerged that Cody Bellinger will be out for 4 to 6 weeks following a hamstring injury.

This past weekend, the Yankees took on the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. Bellinger suffered a hamstring strain while legging out a double in their 3-1 win on Saturday.

This came at a time when he was starting to turn his form around. In his last 12 games, the former National League MVP was batting with a .372 average and a .903 OPS.

He was also the MVP of the 2026 All-Star Game. He went 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs and became just the 4th Yankees star to win the MVP honor in this game.

An MRI scan on Monday revealed that he had a Grade 2 hamstring injury. This means he will be out of action for at least 4 to 6 weeks.

The timing of this injury is something that is concerning for the team. They are already without star sluggers Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge. While Stanton has been sidelined since late April following a right calf strain, Judge has been on the injured list since June due to a rib fracture.

Recently, Yankees manager Aaron Boone pushed back on reports of Stanton being a long way from returning and claimed he was moving in a good direction. As for Judge, his rib has shown some healing, but he is still not cleared to resume baseball activities.

This development also comes just a few days before the trade deadline. The Yankees have been linked with some big names. It now remains to be seen whether Bellinger’s injury affects their trade deadline plans.

Yankees fans left distressed following Cody Bellinger’s injury

The last thing the New York Yankees wanted was to see another slugger go down injured. Unfortunately for them, Cody Bellinger is the latest marquee name who is going to the injured list. Their fans were left distressed on social media.

Many users on X expressed their sorrow and claimed that the season was over for them. Some urged General Manager Brian Cashman to be aggressive at the trade deadline. Meanwhile, one user wrote, “This team is cooked” and shifted their stance to the upcoming NFL season.

Check out that and some other reactions from X below:

The Yankees did win 9-5 on Monday and improved to a 60-45 record. While the team has Spencer Jones and Jasson Dominguez, it will be hard to replace Bellinger, who is also a great defender.

Aaron Boone is confident that the Yankees can weather the storm following Cody Bellinger’s injury blow

When it rains, it pours. This statement applies very well to the New York Yankees when it comes to injuries. With Cody Bellinger now out for at least a month, there are several questions about how the team will cope without another slugger. Aaron Boone, though, is confident that his team could weather this storm.

While speaking with Meredith Marakovits of YES Network, Boone admitted that the team had lost some important members through injuries. This, though, does create an opportunity for someone else.

We feel very much that we have capable people out there, capable guys who are capable of going out there and performing at a high level. We’ve got to weather that storm, and confident we can do that.

Aaron Boone said

Bellinger was in a slump in mid-June and had started to turn it around near the All-Star Break. While he has 11 home runs this year, he has not homered since June 17.

On Monday, the Yankees were 3-0 down against the Chicago White Sox. A groundout from Anthony Volpe, a double from Jazz Chisholm Jr., and a groundout from Spencer Jones saw them put up 4 runs in the 4th inning and take the lead.

Singles from Ben Rice and Chisholm Jr. later in the game saw them take a 6-4 lead. The big moment of the day, though, belonged to Ali Sanchez. The catcher crushed his first career home run, a 3-run shot, to put his side 9-4 up. In the end, they won 9-5 and moved 2.5 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays.

So the team did win without 3 of their big hitters. Can they keep this up for a long time is the main big question. Only time will tell how the Yankees will move forward after this latest injury blow.
