Brighton were no match for Chelsea and Enzo Maresca as the Blues ran riot on Saturday night. Cole Palmer was elemental to Chelsea’s success as the Englishman was responsible for all four of his side’s goals on the night. As things stand, Chelsea are unbeaten in their last five games and very well on their way to securing a spot in the top four.
Palmer was praised on social media for his record-breaking performance as one particular teammate of his resorted to humor as he signed the No. 20’s match ball. “You’re a mid player regardless,” wrote Romeo Lavia on the ball which Palmer got to take home after his stunning performance. Fans took notice of the same as pictures of his match ball went viral.
Palmer already has ten goal contributions in six matches for Chelsea in the Premier League and will look to better his tally in games to come. A fan commented that with Maresca’s game plan and the rejuvenated line-up, Palmer has all it takes to become a future Ballon d’Or winner.
Surprisingly, Palmer has equaled Didier Drogba in terms of assists for the club. He also scored a ten-minute hat-trick and now has more goal contributions than games in all competitions for Chelsea.

He pointed out that it’s impossible to defend with players like him individually and that they were also unable to keep their structure against Chelsea. The Blues are currently in fourth position after racking up 13 points from a possible 18. Brighton aren’t too far behind, with The Seagulls in ninth after suffering the first defeat of their season.
