The match between Argentina and Chile was a highly entertaining one with both teams having to share points in the end. Argentina was clearly the better team though, over the course of 90 minutes, looking at the number of chances they managed to create. Chile had some of their own but those were never convincing enough to seal a win. Argentina struck first in the match through none other than Lionel Messi, who executed a freekick to perfection. Just a few minutes into the second half, Chile was awarded a penalty, which was highly debatable, to say the least. Arturo Vidal had his shot blocked by Emiliano Martinez but the rebound was turned in by Eduardo Vargas.
Argentina created numerous opportunities and Lionel Messi was at the heart of it. Nicolas Gonzalez wasted two glorious chances with Nicolas Tagliafico and Lautaro Martinez joining the list with one each.
