Liam Livingstone

On Sunday, Liam Livingstone of the Punjab Kings (PBKS) is having the time of his life against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He returned to take two wickets after scoring a stunning 32-ball 60 in the batting innings.

Liam Livingstone first dismissed Shivam Dube, who was batting on 57 and was CSK’s only hope of winning the chase. The very next ball, Liam Livingstone stunned Bravo with a quick reflex return catch.

Bravo was only trying to defend the ball on the off-side, but it jumped on his bat and flew away. Livingstone had to dive very low to his left and pouch it, which he did with aplomb.

Having turned the game in PBKS’ favor with the bat, Livingstone now managed to put PBKS in the driver seat, this time with the ball. His huge INR 11 crore price tag will be weighing on his mind but he didn’t let it affect him tonight.

Liam Livingstone Stars With Bat And Ball As Punjab Kings Thrash Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) disastrous start to the IPL 2022 season continued on Sunday, as they were comprehensively defeated by Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

Punjab was in trouble after being asked to bat first, as they lost their first two wickets with the score at 14. Liam Livingstone then teamed up with Shikhar Dhawan to put on 95 runs for the third wicket.

Livingstone batted brilliantly, counter-attacking everything the Chennai team threw at him. He scored 60 runs in 32 balls, including 5 fours and 5 maximums. Dhawan also contributed with a 24-ball 33.

But once they fell, it was all downhill from there. All they could muster from 109/2 was 180 on the board. Jitesh Sharma, a debutant, scored a quickfire cameo of 26 in 17 balls, which helped propel the score.

CSK’s response was also abysmal. Ruturaj Gaikwad’s dreadful start to the season was extended when he was dismissed for 1. Soon after, Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja were both dismissed for ducks, and Chennai was already trailing at 36/5.

MS Dhoni and Shivam Dube tried to resurrect the innings, with the latter scoring a well-deserved century, but it was never going to be enough. They eventually surrendered for 126, handing PBKS a commanding 54-run victory.

Rahul Chahar took 3 wickets for Punjab while Livingstone and debutante, Vaibhav Arora, took two wickets each. It is the third defeat on the trot for CSK and they have a lot to be concerned about.
