There are five positions available and to be able to qualify, the candidate must have played 7 Test matches, or 30 first-class matches or 10 ODIs and 20 first-class games. Moreover, he must have retired from the sport at least five years ago. The last date to submit the application is November 28.

India to have new selectors by New Year

England defeated India by 10 wickets in the semi-final of T20 World Cup 2022

“No person who has been a member of any Cricket Committee (as defined in the rules and regulations of BCCI) for a total of 5 years shall be eligible to be a member of Men’s Selection Committee. Applications should be submitted by 1800 hrs IST on November 28, 2022,” the statement added.

The decision is a response to Team India’s poor performance in the recently concluded T20 World Cup in Australia. Although they topped their group stage, it wouldn’t be unfair to say there never seemed to reach their peak and getting carried away with some luck as well.

However, in the semifinals against England, Rohit Sharma‘s side were clueless. They failed miserably to give a fight and lost the game in the worst possible manner. While dark clouds are still floating over multiple veterans, it remains to be seen what changes the Men in Blue will bring in.
