“Give me any medicine, injection…”- A determined Suryakumar Yadav on playing 3rd T20I vs Australia despite stomach ache and fever
Suryakumar Yadav
Suryakumar Yadav displayed his batting prowess during the third and decider T20I against Australia. His quickfire of 69 runs off 36 balls (including five fours and as many sixes) and a century run partnership with Virat Kohli guided India to chase down the target of 187 and a victory of six wickets.
But when Axar Patel was chatting with Suryakumar after the match, the latter revealed he wasn’t well during the night as he felt under the weather due to travelling but still, determined, he asked the doctor and physio to do anything to make him fit for the game.
“Actually, you (Axar) were also facing this problem. I got to know this during the team meeting. There was a little issue. The weather changed and now we have started travelling as well. So I had a stomach ache and then fever,” he said.
“At the same time, I knew this one is the decider. So I told my doctor and physio, ‘If this would’ve been the world cup final, then how will I react? I can’t sit like this.’ So I told them, ‘do anything – give me any medicine, injection – do everything you can to get me fit for the game,” the 32-year-old said.
“(And) once you have worn the jersey and are on the ground then the emotion is different,” Suryakumar Yadav concluded.
