“If required, we’ll change our playing XI ..”- Rohit Sharma express his disappointment not to win big games in ICC tournaments for 9 years

Rohit Sharma and co. are all set to take on their arch-rivals Pakistan in their first match of the T20 World Cup 2022 on Sunday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
Off-field there is a lot of tension between the BCCI and PCB after a shocking statement by BCCI’s general secretary Jay Shah. Shah earlier this week stated that India won’t travel to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023. And since then the war of words between India and Pakistan have created a lot of tension in the air between the two countries.
However, Team India’s skipper is not bothered about what is going on behind the scenes and has insisted that he and his men are fully focused on the T20 World Cup game against Pakistan. In a press conference ahead of the match Rohit was asked about his views regarding the topic.

Rohit Sharma says Team India is fully focussed on T20 World Cup
“My take is let’s focus on this World Cup because it is important for us. We are not worried about what’s going to happen later. There is no point thinking about it, the BCCI will make decisions on that. We are just thinking about being focused on tomorrow’s game,” said Rohit.
Team India’s last triumph at the ICC tournament was back in 2013 when they lifted Champions Trophy. Since then Men and Blue have underperformed on the biggest stages. Rohit now thinks it’s high time to break the jinx and they need to up the game this time around.
“Pressure to nahi bolunga (It’s not a pressure situation), but it’s definitely a challenge for us to come out on top in ICC tournaments. Yes, there have been no such performances that we would have liked to in the ICC tournaments especially when we are playing big games. But I believe the opportunity always comes and we have the opportunity to come here and do well,” he said.
“So, I think we will have to focus on certain things to get that right. And yes it’s a challenge to not win ICC trophies for nine years if I am not mistaken. The last one we won was in 2013,” he added.
Off late India have been pretty formidable and the squad looks in fantastic shape ahead of the tournament. Talking about the same, Rohit insisted that every individual will play a crucial role in this cricketing extravaganza.
“If required, we’ll change our playing XI in every match accordingly”, the Indian skipper told reporters.
During the T20 World Cups, India has proved quite formidable when facing Pakistan. There have been six matches between the two arch-rivals at this stage, with India winning five and Pakistan winning one.
