Gujarat Titans (GT) batter Shubman Gill scored 67 off 49 balls with seven fours and a six against Punjab Kings (PBKS). Although this knock made some people criticize the youngster for going slow at first en route to his half-century, former Australia opener Matthew Hayden praised Gill for taking the responsibility to bat deep in the run chase.

Gujarat Titans needed someone to take responsibility and bat deep in this run chase against a quality Punjab Kings bowling attack, and Shubman Gill did just that,” Hayden said on Star Sports

Hayden then praises Gill’s knock against PBKS, before opining that the 23-year-old is going to dominate world cricket for the next decade. Gill has been garnering praise from many fans and experts in recent times, as they think he is going to be the next big thing in world cricket.

Some of the shots that he played were pleasing to the eyes. He’s such a class player and he’s going to dominate world cricket for the next decade or so,” he added.

As said before, Gill did not start quickly against Punjab Kings and rather played slowly at first. Owing to this, Virender Sehwag criticized the Punjab-born batter, saying Gill will receive a “slap” from cricket for the sluggish knock in T20.

And now, former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar came up with some advice for Gill. As Gill took the batting deep, it should be his responsibility to finish it off nicely, asserted Manjrekar.

Manjrekar understood that Gill is young and is learning but as he was set, he should have finished the game as well in the 18th or 19th over. “If you are taking it till the end, show a temperament like MS Dhoni and don’t get out,” Manjrekar
