“No reason for India and Pakistan not to meet”- Ramiz Raja fires shot at BCCI, threatens Pakistan’s withdrawal from Asia Cup 2023
Jay Shah and Ramiz Raja
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja has once again blasted the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for its secretary Jay Shah’s remarks on Asia Cup 2023 to be held in a different venue on account of the Indian team not traveling to Pakistan. As Pakistan has the hosting right for next year’s Asia Cup, this remark by Shah wasn’t taken lightly by Pakistan’s cricket fraternity; PCB issued a statement later to not send their team to India for the next year’s ODI World Cup 2023.
Raja once again warned that if the hosting right is snatched from Pakistan, then they will pull themselves out of the tournament. “If that is the case if India cannot come to Pakistan, then we also have the option of not playing in the Asia Cup at all,” he said on the sidelines of the ongoing Test between Pakistan and England in Rawalpindi.
The two countries haven’t locked horns for bilateral series but have played only in Asia Cup and World Cup tournaments. The last time India toured Pakistan was back in 2008 for the Asia Cup. Pakistan traveled to India in 2016 for the T20 World Cup.

Ramiz Raja questions ACC’s decision of awarding Pakistan the hosting rights
Ramiz Raja then questioned the Asian Cricket Council (ACC)’s decision to award the hosting rights to Pakistan if India is not going to come. He accepted the Indian government’s decision to not send the Men in Blue to Pakistan. “But to take the Asia Cup away from the host on that basis isn’t right,” he said.
He asserted that convincing BCCI to travel to Pakistan requires “common sense” knowing the benefits of an India-Pakistan match. Fans in large numbers turn up when the two neighbors meet. He also expressed his disappointment with the ICC by highlighting FIFA president’s decision of giving the US a match against Iran, “Iran has so many issues regarding women’s rights, he picked up the football and said this can solve a lot of issues,” he said.
