KL Rahul, who had won the toss in the previous two matches, once again won in the thrid ODI as well. He chose to bat first and he and Shikhar Dhawan went to bat as openers. They stitched a 63-run stand between them however, Rahul was dismissed by a ball from Brad Evans. Evans also ended up scalping five wickets.

But Shubman Gill’s knock helped India reach a respectable 289 runs by losing eight wickets. When he was playing and was stitching a trong partnership with Ishan Kishan, he got hit on the pads. An appeal was made which was turned down by the umpires. However, Kishan had already walked off from the crease at the non-striker’s end. The bowler picked it up and threw a direct hit.

Zimbabwe still went upstairs to check Gill’s LBW but the result came against the host but Kishan had to walk back because he was given a run-out.
