SRH vs RCB
Though the playoffs still look distant, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as well as their fans will be celebrating one thing- Virat Kohli‘s sixth Indian Premier League (IPL) century. In a do-or-die match, the former RCB skipper, who rather had a mixed season prior to this match, slammed his first century this season en route to RCB’s thumping eight-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Thursday (May 18) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Chasing a 187-run target, RCB openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis fired on all cylinders. No SRH bowlers had any answers against the star duo. The current and former skipper collected a whopping 172 runs between them for the first wicket. Bhuvneshwar Kumar could finally give SRH their first breakthrough but everyone knew, it was way too late.
Kohli, who had smashed his century off a six, became Bhuvneshwar’s victim in the 18th over. But the fans bowed down to the ‘King Kohli’ as he walked back to the dugout after his heroic 63-ball 100 with 12 boundaries and four maximums. In the next over, it was du Plessis’ time to depart off T Natarajan’s slower delivery. The Proteas slammed 71 runs from 47 balls. The left job was easily done by the next batters.

But RCB also know that they have to produce a similar game against defending champions and table-toppers Gujarat Titans (GT) in their final league match on May 21. If they win, they will clinch 16 points, and their playoffs qualification will also depend on the results of other matches.
SRH on the other hand will be playing their last IPL match on May 21 against Mumbai Indians. After the win over SRH, RCB replaced MI in the fourth position on the points table. Both MI’s and RCB’s last league matches will be important in determining playoffs contenders.
