“SuryaAst nahi hoga”- Twitter goes berserk as India win T20I series vs Australia with Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli’s half-century knocks
Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli
Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli‘s half-century knock guide India to series victory by six wickets against Australia (2-1) on Sunday, September 25 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Australia were asked to bat first. Tim David and Cameron Green’s half-century knocks propelled their score to reach a challenging 186/7 in their allotted 20 overs.
While KL Rahul scored only one run and other opener Rohit Sharma could add only 17 runs, the next batters Kohli and Suryakumar stabilised India’s innings.
Fans watched some spectacular shots from their blades. Suryakumar played a knock of 69 runs off 36 balls with five fours and five sixes at an impressive strike rate of 191.67 before Josh Hazlewood dismissed him in the 14th over.
Hazlewood bowled a full one and Suraykumar made room for it, attempted to smash it towards the extra-cover region but it went straight into the hands of Aaron Finch at long off and a shocked Suryakumar took a long walk back to the dressing room.
Kohli played till the penultimate over and got out in the second ball bowled by Daniel Sams. He had already smashed a six off the first ball and tried to finish things off. However, he tried to go extra cover off a full ball but didn’t get the desired elevation. Finch was standing there and made no mistake while catching the ball. Kohli departed after a knock of 63 runs off 48 balls with three fours and four sixes.
Hardik Pandya played 16 balls to score 25 runs which included a six and two boundaries, one of his fours being the winning shot. Sams scalped two wickets, Hazlewood and Pat Cummins picked up a wicket each.
“He has the game to bat under any condition, he batted beautifully in the Asia Cup. He’s striking the ball well, this is the best I have seen him for the past 6 months. He’s got the gift of timing and I was in awe watching him play his shots,” Virat Kohli praised Suryakumar’s knock during the post-match presentation.
