The playoff of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is played between Mumbai Indians and UP Warriorz on Friday (March 24) at the Dr. DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. With the help of Nat Sciver-Brunt‘s half-century, plus a decent start, Mumbai ended up posting a huge 182/4 in their allotted 20 overs.
UP skipper Alyssa Healy won the toss and opted to field first. Yastika Bhatia and Healy Matthews gave the start Mumbai needed. They stitched a 31-run stand between them before Anjali Sarvani got rid of Bhatia in the fifth over. Bhatia had scored 21 runs from 18 balls.
Soon Mathews followed Bhatia to the dressing room in the 10th over after playing a slow 26-ball 26 runs. But Mumbai had not much to worry about, at least for a while, because Nat Sciver was at the crease and was playing a scintillating knock.

After Matthews’ wicket, Mumbai skipper Harmanpreet Kaur joined Sciver but her knock was short-lived owing to Sophie Ecclestone whose delivery smashed into Harmanpreet’s stumps. The skipper departed after scoring just 14 runs from 15 balls.
Amelia Kaur was another dangerous fish UP needed to send back, which they did but Kerr had already slammed five boundaries, scoring 29 runs from 19 balls. But Ecclestone struck again and dismissed her on the final ball of the penultimate over.
Nat Sciver remained unbeaten at 72 off just 38 balls, including nine fours and two maximums. She batted at a huge strike rate of 189.47. Along with her, Pooja Vastrakar, who came to bat after Kerr’s wicket slammed a six and a four to take Mumbai to 182/4 in their allotted 20 overs. If Mumbai Indians win this match, they will meet Meg Lanning-led Delhi Capitals in the finals on Sunday (March 26).
