The pitch at the Greenfild Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram is indeed a tricky one as batters were tumbling one after the other until Suryakumar Yadav entered the crease and displayed his prowess with yet another half-century knock, helping India chase down an easy target of 107 in just 17th over.

After being asked to bat first, South Africa could only give a target of a mere 107 runs to   Rohit Sharma ‘s men. Apart from Keshav Maharaj other South Africa batters couldn’t impress much. Four batters were dismissed on duck and among them, three on golden duck.

When India walked out to bat, they too faced the same result like that of their opponents. Rohit was dismissed on duck after facing two deliveries while Virat Kohli could score only three runs off nine balls.

But KL Rahul showed some patience and in a slow innings, he scored an unbeaten 51 runs off 56 balls; the knock also included two fours and four sixes. No.4 batter Suryakumar Yadav once again proved why is the current sensation in T20 cricket.

He made batting look easy with his three sixes and five fours, a quick knock of an unbeaten 50 runs off just 33 balls at a strike rate of 151.52. India didn’t break much sweat and won the match in 17th over by eight wickets. Men in Blue now are leading the three-match T20I series by 1-0.

“Tough out there. Unbelievable for Surya to just come and play his shots. He said he’ll be aggressive and that helped my game too. I was prepared to do the dirty work for the team,” said Rahul in the post-match presentation.
