For the Indians, the World Test Championship (WTC) Final ended in a massive disappointment. Rohit Sharma and Co. faced a demoralizing defeat by a whopping 209 runs against Pat Cummins-led Australia at The Oval in London on Sunday (June 11). This is India’s two consecutive defeat in the ultimate Test as the previously, they lost to New Zealand.

Australia posted a massive 469 in the first innings and bundled out India for 296 runs. With already leading by 200-plus runs, the Aussie scored 270/8d in the second innings, giving a 444-run target to Rohit Sharma and Co.

And though Australia’s fast and furious bowling was expected to run through India’s batting line-up, India under pressure faltered against Nathan Lyon who scalped four wickets, while Scott Boland picked up three, which in turn saw Australia win the WTC by 208 runs and became the first team in the world to win all ICC competitions.

However, a video on Twitter, posted by journalist Cricketwallah, showed despondent Indian supporters waiting outside The Oval desperately to get a glimpse of the Indian players. Take a look at this video here:

After India’s another defeat at an ICC event, as expected fans and personalities of the cricket world slammed the Indian team and its tactics as well as came up with suggestions. Even before the start of the WTC Final, or let’s say even before the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), there was one area where most of the fans seemed to have nodded in unison, that is after two months of demanding IPL, players will get tired.

And after India’s defeat, fans again reiterated the same and blamed the cash-rich league for India’s poor show in an ICC event. When former India head coach Ravi Shastri was asked whether the gap between the IPL and the WTC Final in the future would be increased or not, he made a realistic comment on it, saying it’s up to the players.

That’s never going to happen. Let’s be realistic. You’re going to get 20 days, but if that’s the case, you got to miss the IPL. The choice is yours,” Shastri said on Star Sports.

In case you missed!
