Suresh Raina posts picture with MS Dhoni; all set to play in remainder of IPL 2021 in UAE
MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina
Following the announcement that the remainder of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be held in the UAE in September and October, Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) ace batsman Suresh Raina took to social media to post a picture of himself alongside captain MS Dhoni to signify that he was ready and raring to go.
It is noteworthy that in the 2020 edition of the IPL, Raina did not take part as he withdrew due to personal reasons. There were various rumours as to the reason for his decision, but till date it has remained unclear. There were speculations that there was a dispute with the management over the allotment of a room with balcony and there were also claims that Raina did not feel safe during the pandemic and so on.
But in the 2021 edition of the IPL, Suresh Raina returned for the Men in Yellow as they came up with a strong response after the disappointing season in 2020. At the halfway stage of the season, they were top of the table. The tournament then had to be suspended due to COVID-19 cases breaching the teams’ bio-bubbles.
Suresh Raina posts picture with captain MS Dhoni
Suresh Raina took to Twitter today to post a picture of himself alongside MS Dhoni during a practice session this year and captioned it, “See you soon Dubai” indicating that he would take part in the second leg of the tournament. The post put an end to any doubt whatsoever which were lingering over whether Raina would take a similar decision as the one he did in 2020 to withdraw from the tournament.
CSK currently have 5 wins out of their first 7 matches and are behind only Delhi Capitals (DC) who have played a game more. Raina would hope that the good form carries on in the second half as well as CSK aim to roar back by winning their fourth IPL title.
