WATCH: Paddy Dooley surprises everyone in BBL with his unique bowling action
Over the years, we have seen several bowlers come out with some weird and unique actions. Fans recently witnessed another unique bowling action, this time in the Big Bash League (BBL). A finger spinner named Paddy Dooley unleashed his action, which took everyone by surprise.
Speaking of his unique style, the 25-year-old Dooley said that he has no problem with people making fun of his action. He also narrated how he picked up the action after being inspired by Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who has bowling action like no other in the world.
“It’s probably fair enough. I mean, if I was an outsider I’d be making fun of my action. I was playing a bit of backyard cricket, mucking around with some Jasprit Bumrah impersonations and went ‘oh, this is alright for my rhythm, so I’ll give it a crack’,” he told cricket.com.au.
Paddy Dooley’s impressive start to the season
Paddy Dooley stated that it’s a bonus that his bowling action distracts the batters a bit and they are not used to it. “And the fact that people think it’s fun and all of that, that’s just fantastic. If it distracts the batters a little bit, especially when I haven’t bowled to a bloke and they’re trying to get used to the action, then that’s a bonus as well,” he added.
Dooley is representing the Hobart Hurricanes in the ongoing BBL season. He has featured in two games so far, picking up five wickets in total. In the most recent clash against the Perth Scorchers, he picked up a four-wicket haul to win the game for his side. Unsurprisingly, he was adjudged the player of the match.
Hobart Hurricanes bounced back in the second game after losing their opener. They are currently ranked in fifth position in the points table, with two games in two games. They will next lock horns with the Sydney Sixers on Thursday (December 22) at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
