NASCAR’s Executive Vice President John Probst sent the whole NASCAR community into a frenzy when he revealed that the sport is planning to introduce Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV) EV in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series in the future. Two times NOAPS champion Dale Earnhardt Jr. is one of the many that hates the proposal.
In the latest episode of hues podcast, Junior talked about the second division potentially becoming an EV series against the wishes of the passionate stock car racing fanbase. He understands NASCAR’s intentions to make massive changes to the sport and it will surly affect the series that is slowly reviving.
It’s my belief that absolutely the electric car and that body style and all that is something NASCAR is looking at as a possibility for the future of the O’Reilly series. The O’Reilly Series has got a lot of good things going right now.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. said on his podcast.
The second division has found themselves in a positive sport after the new CW deal. There is more TV viewership, as well as more fans in the grandstands. According to Dale Earnhardt Jr. The car is also more relatable to the general public and any changes to the status quo will be a mistake from which there will not be a comeback for the sport.
Viewership is continuously on the rise and our cars, we can all kind of relate to those cars when we look at them and we see them on the racetrack. I think making a switch to anything unlike what we have would be a massive, massive mistake and it would probably be the end of the rise.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. and JR Motorsports want nothing to do with an EV series
Further talking about the point, the two times second division champion pointed out that if the championship become an EV series, it will destroy the current version forever. The TV rantings, sponsorships and fan engagement will drop significantly.

Things are going well. We got a great TV partner, we got great numbers, we got great fan engagement, and I think any kind of change like that so dramatic as that would be, would destroy the series as we know it.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.
The veteran asserted that he and his team JR Motorsports, one of the big-3 in the second division, has no interest is being part of the electric series. He pointed out that the sport is trying to fix something that doesn’t needs fixing.
I would not be interested in that, I don’t think JR Motorsports would be interested in that. I’m certainly not interested in that car or that body or any of that. I think they need to leave well enough alone, quit fiddling with everything, and feeling like everything needs to be improved, fixed, changed.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. added.
NASCAR should not go ahead with EV plans if they can’t get the support of JR Motorsports, the most recognizable brand in the second division. They need to have Dale Jr. in their side to keep the fans from quitting the series because of CUV cars.
