The Las Vegas ‘Sphere’ has been a venue that both Eddie Hearn and Dana White have their eyes on. As such, Hearn recently announced that the highly anticipated rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano is expected to happen at the Sphere. The fight is likely to be scheduled for June, which prompted Hearn to announce the venue they are targeting. However, White has now responded to this by stating that it is not going to happen.

At the recent UFC 300 post-fight interview, White responded to a question about the UFC’s plan to conduct a fight at the sphere. The event is expected to be on Mexican Independence Day, which is September 16, 2024. Hence, if the Taylor vs. Serrano rematch happens in June, it will be the first combat sports event conducted at the venue. White responded to this news by stating:

I love you, Eddie Hearn. I consider him a friend. Ain't happening. Sorry, Eddie. love you buddy, you can go in the Sphere in October

White completely shut down the idea, which expressed his intent to conduct the first combat sports event at the venue. He also told Hearn that he could do an event there a month after the Mexican Independence Day event in October. Subsequently, Hearn recently announced that Joshua’s next fight might be in October.

Hearn has not yet fixed the fight, which implies that the venue has not been finalized yet. In addition, Hearn had also announced at the beginning of the year that Taylor might fight Chantelle Cameron next for a trilogy fight.

Eddie Hearn announces signing Jarron Ennis

The Taylor and Serrano rematch is not the only big news that Hearn announced recently. Subsequently, the promoter revealed that Jarron Ennis has now signed with Matchroom Boxing Promotions. Hearn had been trying to get Boots to sign with his promotion for several years now.

This is mainly because Ennis has been an elite boxer in his division and was even expected to fight Terence Crawford. As such, when Hearn finally signed Ennis, he expressed his enthusiasm during an interview with The Stomping Ground.

I can't actually remember an announcement that had the same kind of noise that the 'Boots' signing had. This is one of the greatest signings of all time.

The promoter believes that Ennis is the best welterweight in the world. Furthermore, he stated that he has always had an eye on him and believes that he can become the undisputed welterweight champion. Eddie Hearn also boldly proclaimed that Ennis could defeat Crawford.
