Darvin Ham gives reacts to 9 straight losses after Denver Nuggets beats his Los Angeles Lakers team in playoffs

The Los Angeles Lakers’ 9 straight losses to the Denver Nuggets will affect their confidence. Darvin Ham echoed those lines when pressed on his feelings about this loss.

The Los Angeles Lakers head coach was the first to talk to the media assembled after the game. When asked about how the game went out of their hands, he said:

Sh*t, it’s tough. A championship team isn’t going to beat itself. We gotta step up.

Ham acknowledged that the reigning champions were that good all across the board and that his team did not have a chance. He also admitted that as a team they have to do much better if they want to fight in this series.

Darvin Ham did give his team a bit of praise when he said that there were some things he liked. However, he mentioned the difference in rebounding which gave the Denver Nuggets an edge. Using that, they flipped the game in the 3rd quarter with a run that his team had no answer for.

Darvin Ham did not throw D’Angelo Russell under the bus after his woeful shooting night. The most reliable scorer in the 2nd half of the season shot just 11% from the three. The Nuggets capitalized on Russell’s bad shooting, by countering with an all-out team performance which sealed the win.

Darvin Ham needs to get his team ready for Game 2

If the Los Angeles Lakers had any good points to take to their lockers tonight, it was the superstar-level performances from LeBron James and Anthony Davis. However, the buck stops there as the rest of the team stunk it up. Shooting poorly, turning over the ball, and getting outrebounded were the reasons the Nuggets won.

If Darvin Ham wants to take the game to the reigning champions, he will have to motivate his players to step up when the whistle blows on Tuesday. Everything cannot be on the shoulders of his two superstars. Therefore his 2nd and 3rd level players need to bring their A-game if they are to avoid digging themselves deeper in this playoff series.

As he said, a championship team will not beat itself. His players have to take the onus of beating them. He did say that this series will be a fight. Now his players have to prove his theory and stop at the 9 straight losses.
