Lando Norris celebrated his victory at the Marina Bay circuit, where he finished 20 seconds ahead of Max Verstappen, just like he did at the Dutch GP. This marked the Briton’s third win, showcasing his dominance on the grid. Reflecting on Norris’s performance, former Red Bull driver David Coulthard compared it to Michael Schumacher’s and Lewis Hamilton’s exceptional drives.
David Coulthard praised Lando Norris for his humble nature and approachability. He noted that Norris might not fully grasp how impressive his performances are at this stage. Despite being one of the top drivers in 2024, Coulthard said that he may be underestimating the significant impact he is having in Formula 1.
Currently, Norris is 52 points behind Max Verstappen, with six races remaining in the season. Given the level of dominance he has displayed since the summer break, there is a strong chance Norris could secure his first world championship this season.
Norris’s impressive race in Singapore reminded Coulthard of the remarkable drives by F1 legends like Michael Schumacher, Ayrton Senna, and Lewis Hamilton.
David Coulthard believes Lando Norris’s Singapore GP was exceptional
David Coulthard remarked that while anyone can win a race and set the fastest lap, what Lando Norris delivered this season has been truly exceptional. Winning two races by finishing 20 seconds ahead of Max Verstappen, who has dominated the sport for the past three years, was something nobody expected at the start of the season. This level of performance not only highlighted Norris’s remarkable talent but also the developments McLaren made to their car.
Norris needs to close the gap to Verstappen in the final six races to win his first title. McLaren’s fast car gives him an advantage, but teammate Oscar Piastri could make it harder for the Brit as he ahs also shown fantastic form this season.
