In the first episode of the new Bleacher Report podcast, ‘Cleats and Convos with Deebo Samuel’, the San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel acknowledged the Niners are in a do-or-die spot. The WR was joined by co-host Liv Woods and teammate Brandon Aiyuk.

Deebo Samuel was drafted 36th overall by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2019 NFL Draft. In his five seasons with the team, they have played the Super Bowl twice and the NFC Championship game four times. On a small picture, they are consistent but the dream of a first championship since 1994 remains distant.

In the podcast, Samuel noted that he is even more hungry for a title. He acknowledged that the team they have built is one of the best teams in the league for a long time now. The SF 49ers have also retained most of the 2023 squad including Trent Williams, Nick Bosa, and Brandon Aiyuk.

If I'm looking at it like you just said, for as hungry, I'm full at this point. It's time to really clean the plate. It's either now or never. That's how I kind of look at it. With the guys that we have, I've been a part of the best team in the NFL for the past six years. And so, we're always there. We got to get it done.

Samuel is off the pitch for a couple of games due to a calf strain. The injury is thought to have been picked up while playing the Minnesota Vikings. He joined the reigning OPOY Christian McCaffrey, who is placed in injury reserve owing to calf tightness and Achilles tendinitis.

Critic says Brock Purdy should pick up more after Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey’s injury

Brock Purdy has been supported by a star team since he started as the QB1 for the Niners. Now, it looks like his time to prove his grit on his own is finally here. Steve Young feels that Brock needs to hone his ability to find players who are not on top of their game like Samuel or McCaffrey.

Young added that Purdy needs to start taking more risks, work on running around to find players, and get the job done. He also mentioned that Purdy will be required to do things that aren’t his strong suit and that will lead to his ability to outwit big names when it matters.

Inevitably he's going to have to do more. He's going to have to move around more. He's going to have to put himself at risk more, and he's going to have to do things that aren't necessarily his strong suit and that might provide great things in the future when they get to the Super Bowl this year, have to face Patrick Mahomes or face Lamar Jackson.
Steve Young noted

The 49ers are currently 1-1, placed 3rd in NFC West behind Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals. They will face state rivals Los Angeles Rams in the next game, looking to regain the win streak and move ahead early in the season.
