Recently, Drew McIntyre signed a new contract with WWE. To commemorate the contract extension, The Rock sent him his beloved sword as a gift. Now, in response, The Scottish Warrior shared a video clip from 2019 in which The Brahma Bull named him as the next big Superstar in WWE.

The 38-year-old star took to X and acknowledged The Rock‘s vision to see him as the next big superstar. Five years ago, when a fan asked The Final Boss about the then-crop of wrestlers, he stated that he liked Drew McIntyre a lot. He further added that The Scottish Warrior could go a long way if he made a genuine connection with the audience.

McIntyre returned to the main roster after having quite a successful run in NXT. Fast forward two years later, and he defeated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36 to become the WWE Champion for the very first time in his career. The 38-year-old star hasn’t looked back since then, as he cemented himself as a main event talent in the company.

However, his most recent world title run was just cut short to 5 minutes and 46 seconds, as Damian Priest cashed in his MITB contract and became the new champion. One day later, he lost another opportunity to become the No. 1 contender for the title, thanks to CM Punk‘s distraction. Hence, with him signing a new contract with the company, he certainly has a lot of time to plot his revenge against his enemies.

Drew McIntyre will be off WWE TV to recover from injury

During his WrestleMania XL match against Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre sustained an injury. Despite suffering from a hyperextended elbow issue, he reportedly continued to work through the injury during WWE UK’s tour. However, that won’t be the case anymore.

According to a report from PWInsider, the 38-year-old star will take some time off to recover from his injury. Although his return date has not been confirmed yet, it certainly won’t be immediate. In fact, he has earned the respect of his peers because of his willingness to work despite suffering a serious injury.

He joined the list of major wrestlers who are out of action due to injury, along with his rivals, Rollins and CM Punk. A few days ago, McIntyre mocked The Best in the World for taking time off due to an injury. Looking at the situation now, the Scottish Warrior might have to go back on his own words.
