Jaden McDaniels came up big in game three and played a crucial role in helping the Timberwolves register a 113-96 victory over the Nuggets at the Target Center on Thursday night.

The win sees the Timberwolves take a 2-1 lead in the series. It was an impressive all-round performance that saw them play elite offense and defense. The Wolves seem to be in control of the series and will fancy their chances of taking a 3-1 lead to Denver.
Jaden McDaniels has grown into one of the best two-way players in the league this season. After game two, McDaniels was in the headlines for critiquing the Nuggets’ defense and calling out the players by name while detailing the Wolves’ offensive strategy. His comments were not taken well by the NBA community, especially in the middle of a series.
Many criticized McDaniels for his statements and warned him that the Nuggets would respond strongly on Thursday. However, the Wolves were more than just ready as they dominated the game from start to finish. They held the Nuggets to just 11 points in the first quarter and had a 22-point lead by halftime.
But the 25-year-old stole the show with his dunk that would have demoralized the Nuggets. The dunk was an exclamation point that even got Dwyane Wade and Candace Parker all riled up. The two former stars losing their minds was a huge sign of approval, considering they had some of the best dunks in the game during their playing days.
Candace Parker is enjoying calling games with Dwyane Wade
Both Dwyane Wade and Candace Parker have had very successful careers in the NBA and WNBA, respectively. After calling time to their playing careers, the two have moved to broadcasting. They have worked together as studio analysts and were calling the Nuggets-Wolves game on Thursday.
Parker spoke about her experience covering the games with Wade on her podcast.
I commentated on the Clippers-Warriors game where Steph Curry went bananas in that fourth quarter and hit that step-back and fell into the crowd. And I have never wanted to play basketball more than at that moment. Like these playoffs, it’s such a great experience. Like D-Wade and I were calling a lot of games together. I really genuinely enjoy them. Like I feel like I love basketball more than anything.

Parker and Wade have already called a few in the postseason so far and will be expected to be seen in the commentary box a lot more as the postseason goes on. It is a new experience for both former players and they seem to be enjoying their time.
Playing the Nuggets motivates Jaden McDaniels
The Nuggets and Timberwolves are going head-to-head for the third time in the last four years in the postseason. In 2023, the Nuggets came out on top in four games, while the Wolves won game seven in the Western Conference Semifinals in 2024. Jaden McDaniels played an important role in helping the Wolves overcome the Nuggets in their last meeting.

After the game, McDaniels revealed that playing the Nuggets gets the best out of him.
Just playing Denver really motivates us. That’s enough for real. Just playing against them, we don’t really care what they say, just the number and the name across their chest make us play like this.
