Batman Arkham Voice Actor Kevin Conroy passes away aged 66

For kids in the 1990s, Kevin Conroy was the epitome of the Caped Crusader, lending his voice to multiple Batman Arkham titles later on and more popularly, the Batman Animated series that ran between 1992-1995. Kevin Conroy has been widely regarded as one of the best voice actors of his generation, with fans and critics in similar praise of the enigmatic voice actor on his demise at aged 66.
Mark Hamill, who lent his voice to the Joker in the same animated series released a statement in honor of the late Kevin Conroy. “Kevin was perfection,” Hamill said in a statement. “He was one of my favorite people on the planet, and I loved him like a brother. He truly cared for the people around him – his decency shone through everything he did. Every time I saw him or spoke with him, my spirits were elevated.”

Conroy had lent his voice to several iconic game titles in the DC universe for a number of years. Some of his popular titles include: “Batman: Arkham” and “Injustice” video game franchises. He also appeared in various DC Universe Animated Original Movies, including “Batman: Gotham Knight” (2008), “Superman/Batman: Public Enemies” (2009), “Justice League: Doom” (2012), “Batman: The Killing Joke” (2016), and “Justice League vs. the Fatal Five” (2019), among other films. The 2019 “Justice League” animated film is Conroy’s last credited feature as Batman, and his most recent video game credit as Batman is Warner Bros.’ “MultiVersus” from earlier this year.

Kevin Conroy: A Tribute

Kevin Conroy was one of the most-respected voice actors of his generation, lending his voice to several popular TV shows and franchises over the years. His choice of characters was not restricted to the DC Universe, having leant his voice to franchises such as “Scooby-Doo” ( 2019 series “Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?”) and “Masters of the Universe.” Later on, for the same franchise, he appeared in episodes of Netflix’s “Masters of the Universe: Revelation” (playing Mer-Man in 2021) and “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” (playing Hordak in early 2022).
In an official statement released by Warner Bros., they stated: “Warner Bros. Animation is saddened by the loss of our dear friend Kevin Conroy.” WB Animation continued “His iconic performance of Batman will forever stand among the greatest portrayals of the Dark Knight in any medium. We send our warmest thoughts to his loved ones and join fans around the world in honoring his legacy.” Several celebrities and media figures have also come forward and acknowledged his achievements, making him truly the defining Batman of this generation.
