With the Valorant Champions 2023 Grand finals over, Evil Geniuses swept the stage with Paper Rex. The match was a phenomenal one, with both teams fighting each other with everything in their arsenal. Moreover, considering the scale of the match, with a huge prize pool of $2.25 Million, the match attracted many big personalities. From Elon Musk to the former Batman star Ben Affleck, many celebrities were there. However, the crowd didn’t take kindly to Elon Musk’s presence in the finals.
The VCT 2023 season attracted a lot of viewership, with every team performing exceptionally. This entire season was dedicated to underdogs and their story of zero to heroes. Many up-and-coming teams, like Bilibili Gaming, bested established teams like NRG and made it to the finals. However, the team that shined the most was Evil Geniuses. The community-dubbed “meme team” stood over every other team to win the finals.
Fans hyped the match so much so that many celebrities came to express their support and watch the spectacle unfold live. Moreover, the talk of the town during the finals was SpaceX and current “X”, formally known as Twitter CEO Elon Musk.
The crowd booed Elon Musk during EG vs PRX
Elon Musk has been constantly receiving a lot of backlash for revamping Twitter into “X” after buying the platform. Users have not taken lightly the changes made to this social media platform. This has contributed to a lot of criticism received by the SpaceX CEO, apart from just the Twitter drama. Furthermore, everyone saw quite clearly this hatred during the Valorant Champions 2023 Grand Finals!
During the third map of the match, Bind, at the half-time mark, the camera switched over to Tenz and the host, GoldenBoy. The crowd cheered on for the Sentinels Player, Tenz, and went wild. However, right after the start of the second half, fans recognized a figure that the camera zoomed in on at first glance. It was none other than Elon Musk. Furthermore, much to everyone’s surprise, fans booed him and yelled, “Bring back Twitter!” The aggression was so high that even the casters mentioned how the hype for Tenz failed in front of this. The casters said,
“Is that a bigger reaction than Tenz got? Damn, must be nice!”
Such dramas are quite common among celebrities, and Elon Musk has been one such frequent name. With the Valorant Champions 2023 over, the Valorant eSports scene will see some calm until the VCT 2024 season kicks off!
