The most hyped streaming event of the year, the 13th Annual Streamy Awards just took place. In the beloved city of Los Angeles, over 40 categories were organized to be distributed amongst the best of creators.

Ever since 2009, the Streamy Awards have been there to recognize and honor excellence in the variety of media production that has changed the landscape of content creation for the past decade or so. Amongst this, fans would make sure to add some trolls in, and unfortunately, Minecraft YouTuber Dream would be in the center of it.

Many notable attendees from the streaming world were present. Amongst 40 categories, the one that was assured to MrBeast was the Creator of the Year. Despite not showing up to the Streamy Awards, his high-production videos got him the award for the fourth time in a row! He even got chosen from names including JiDion, Charli D’Amelio, and Logan Paul amongst many other notable candidates!

Aside from the most subscribed individual YouTuber, Fans even saw legendary streamers Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed win awards. For the second time in a row,  Kai Cenat received the Streamer of the Year award. On the other hand, IShowSpeed won the Best Variety Streamer award. And so he did in style as he yelled “Sui” in celebration of this notable achievement.

Despite being heavily talented in Minecraft and having gained a massive following with it, Dream can most likely be remembered for a white face mask with a smiley face on it. He went viral in 2022 when he made a face reveal video. Despite receiving a wave of hate for it, it had also been an iconic moment that would be remembered for time to come.

As Dream was announced as the winner, he walked up to the stage with his mask on. He then thanked his friends and even mentioned how he did not expect to win the award as this was his most ‘inactive period’. However, later on, he would be hosting the show for a while. During his part, he was asked by his co-host to do a face reveal, to which he said “Again?” and proceeded to remove his mask.

Despite there being a lot of buzz about Dream winning the Gamer of the Year award over Markiplier who many believed deserved it, Dream was also headlining news articles for another reason. He was being named once again solely for having removed his mask. Fans saw the long-lost opportunity to revive this moment and took to social media to troll the 2023 Gamer of the Year.

Despite all the trolling and memes, Dream will be going home proud. Even though there are speculations about him winning the award over Markiplier, Dream has garnered quite a lot of views this year and has come a long way from his Minecraft days. Surely this was a masterpiece of a marketing stunt, regardless of how badly he is getting trolled on the internet.
