Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 5: Server downtime, duration, and more
Fortnite
Usually when Fortnite pushes a big update, there is a buffer period where they shut down their servers for maintenance and uploading which basically results in this server downtime. Fortnite’s last major update came at the end of its flagship event Fortnitemares 2022, where Fortnite introduced its Chapter 3 Season 4 update with a new battle pass and updated player skins every week. The server downtime is when the entire game cannot be accessed and can last somewhere between 2-12 hours, depending on the size of the update.
Originally, it was believed that the server downtime will take place next month, on December 3, with the end of the current season. However, new updates have been released that reveal Fortnite has been gearing up for yet another massive update on 5th December. This means that the server downtime is more likely to go through on December 5, although the exact time period has not been revealed.

However, if rumors are to be believed, this server downtime is going to be one of the longest downtimes in the history of the game. It has been speculated that the downtime will last anywhere between 12-16 hours, which means players might not even get to play the game for almost an entire day. Pushing up new updates takes some time, and the average speculated time for the update is 4 PM eastern time.

At the onset, developers have teased a third collaboration with Stranger Things and an exclusive Pokemon Collaboration that has gotten fans excited about the new season soon to be out.
Along with certain collaborations, this game will continue to be hosted on Unreal Engine 5. In terms of the storyline, Fortnite is going with the clash between Geno and the Seven, where the current map Astimis would face severe destruction, compelling the players to migrate to a newer map. As is expected from Fortnite, this time once again there will be obvious changes to the map, along with new player skins and anti-heroes on the island. It will be interesting to find out how the players adapt to the new island in the upcoming new Fortnite season.
