Former OpTic coach joins NRG Valorant ahead of VCT 2023

Former OpTic coach joins NRG Valorant ahead of VCT 2023

NRG

OpTic is almost on the verge of dissolving its Valorant division, and all of the players and coaches are jumping ship at the first opportunity. El Diablo has already joined the Cloud9 roster for VCT Americans League, and most of the other players are either leaving or on the verge of it. It is surprising to see the 2022 Valorant Champions almost at a stage of disbanding due to internal administration and conflict within the board.

However, several teams are taking advantage of this Hiatus, and NRG being one of them, has gone ahead and signed Chet Singh as its new head coach. The former OpTic coach is well known for his flexible tactics and the site retake strategies that he drills among his players. Chet will already join two ex-optic members in the squad: Pujan “FNS” Mehta and Victor “Victor” Wong, ensuring a continuity in the tactics which will allow Chet to settle in quicker within the new setup to start churning out new strategies.

NRG has gone all out with their VCT signing this year, signing the Initiator Main Zander “thwifo” Kim from T1, after thwifo decided to make himself a free agent this year. The team has gone ahead and obtained a strong core from popular gaming outfits, making them one of the unlikely contenders for the trophy this season.

NRG has run rampant with their signings this year for their Valorant roster, and their final signing is the Initiator Main Zander “thwifo” Kim from T1, days after Thwifo announced himself available and present as a free agent this year. Thwifo is known to be extremely versatile, and although he usually plays the Queen initiator Fade or the machine KAY/O, he is known to have blended into roles of Cypher, Viper, and even Killjoy as the team required.

With the addition to Thwifo, the current NRG roster appears like:

  • Pujan “FNS” Mehta (OpTic)
  • Victor “Victor” Wong (OpTic)
  • Austin “crashies” Roberts (OpTic)
  • Ardis “Ardiis” Svarenieks (FPX)
  • Sam “s0m” Oh (NRG)
  • Zander “thwifo” Kim (T1)

On paper, this makes NRG one of the strongest teams for VCT 2023, capable of even going all the way to the Masters tournament at the highest stage of Valorant. It will be interesting to find out how both Optic and NRG fans react to this new signing.
