Ever since the release of Harbor in Valorant, fans have had mixed reactions about this agent, to the point where Harbor has not received a substantial amount of playtime within the meta. This has primarily been due to Fade being the queen initiator and other agents such as Omen and Viper adding far more value to the team composition within the game. This in turn limits the playtime that this agent gets, and also affects his pick rate.

The developers have therefore tried to make changes in Patch 5.10, and along with buffing Cypher and nerfing Fade, have allowed an additional cascade ability to Harbor’s kit, thereby allowing him to enter sites more aggressively and clear off one angle at a time. However, patch 5.10 also brought along with it a glitch, where using Harbor’s ultimate has led to unintentional glitches and lags within the game, affecting both spike plants and defuses while shooting.

As of now, there is no fix for this error in the game that Harbor’s presence creates. Since this character is relatively new, the developers have decided to remove him from the competitive matches as they try to address the issues with the new source code. The new Harbor ultimate has made all guns fire in bursts as opposed to their normal firing actions, therefore almost overhauling the mechanics of the game that needs to be addressed immediately. It, therefore, remains to be found out how long it takes for the developers to resolve this issue and bring Harbor back into the game.

Harbor as a controller needs to facilitate site entry and somek off dangerous choke points and his Cascade ability is an important part of his kit to do that. Cascade is a pretty basic ability that creates a wave of water that moves ahead or can be stopped by the controlling Harbor. This can be used to create site retake plays but moving behind the wave to take on aggressive peaks, having to clear only one angle at a time without the risk of being flanked by multiple angles.

Additionally, opponents when hit by this wave are slowed although for a minimal time period, giving Harbor a greater edge in taking the fight. However, the developers have announced that to derive the maximum benefit out of Harbor’s kit, he will receive two charges for that ability instead of previously receiving only one. Harbor can then become the Viper replacement for bigger maps like Breeze, Haven, or even Icebox since his abilities can also pass through walls. It will be interesting to find out how the community ends up using him after he is re-introduced in the game.
