Why is #freedream trending on X? Dream fans call out Elon Musk

Minecraft creator ‘Dream’ who broke the internet this year following his face reveal video on YouTube, has been trending on Twitter lately, but this trend has come for all the wrong reasons. A large part of the community has made #freedream trending on Twitter with more than 4k tweets on this hashtag.

Apparently, this hashtag is trending because Dream’s primary X account ‘Dreamwastaken’, is restricted on a temporary note. When users will search for their account, this message will be shown to them- “Caution: This account is temporarily restricted”. Elaborating further, the restriction came as the platform found some unusual activity from the account.

Dream’s account has not been suspended though, as when users click on the ‘Yes, view profile’ option, they’ll be able to see all the tweets made by him. On the flip side, some of the members of the Minecraft community appreciate Elon Musk for making this move, considering that it was a rightful step.

Why are people hailing Elon Musk for restricting Dream’s account

Minecraft creator Dream’s account getting restricted has left the community divided. On one hand, people are hailing Elon Musk, the CEO and Head of Twitter, whereas, on the other side, Musk has been facing criticism for initiating this move, which led to the hashtag- “Free Dream”.

The members who are against lifting up the restriction are claiming that Elon Musk should be gone forever and that he should not be allowed to use social media platforms. Dream’s grooming and paedophilia accusations are resurfacing all over Twitter, which is one of the primary reasons why people want him out of Twitter.

Some of the users are also alleging him to be indulged in racism, anti-semitism and paedophilia. In addition to that, users have been commenting that this was the right Christmas gift presented to him and that the step should have been taken earlier. To counter the users who have been supporting Dream, users have started a secondary hashtag- “Keep Dream gone”.
