Gareth Southgate’s England completely outclassed and outplayed Ukraine, recording an emphatic 4-0 victory against Shevchenko’s men to set up a semifinal clash against Denmark at Wembley.
Harry Kane gave England the lead as early as in the fourth minute from a Sterling through ball, with Harry Maguire doubling the lead just a minute after the break. Harry Kane scored his third and second of the night as he headed home from range, with substitute Jordan Henderson heading in from a corner to put the game to bed and beyond Ukraine’s reach, who were left powerless.

Made two good saves on either halves, otherwise very little bothered. Came out to clear any threat that could have built, but made a mess once.
Luke Shaw – 8.0/10
Played very high up the field as Ukraine weren’t attacking often. Excellent ball delivery into the box. Notched up two assists off Maguire and Kane’s headed goals with pin point crosses from the left.
Harry Maguire – 7.5/10
Solid in defence but had very little to do defensively. Ventured upfield often. Beautiful headed goal from a Shaw cross to make it 2-0. Looking back to his near best.
John Stones – 6.5/10
Good composure and strength to see out Ukraine’s attacks early. Made four interventions.
Kyle Walker – 6/10
Picked off loose passes and added width in the flanks, going in the offensive frequently.
Kalvin Phillips – 6.5/10
Provided the energy in the midfield once again, looking industrious and efficient. Picked up loose balls and helped England in possession.
Declan Rice – 6.5/10
Protected his defensive lines, playing in a deeper role and made four interceptions and three clearances to keep out Ukraine’s attacks.
Mason Mount – 6.5/10
Made efforts to link up things in the midfield, assisted Henderson’s goal from a perfectly taken corner.
Jadon Sancho – 7/10
Put into the starting lineup and looked in business from the beginning. Good close control and controlled the rhythm of England’s attacks from the right side.
Sterling – 8/10
Constant threat down the left flank, cutting inside with venom often. Pin point through ball to set up England and Kane’s opening goal. Had a good hand in two of the later goals too.
Harry Kane – 8.5/10
Threatening as always, continuosly pushing Ukraine’s defence. Scored England’s first with a beautiful run and finish, and headed in the second from a cross.

Made some good saves, notably to deny Kane’s third goal. Tried saving the first but to no avail and could have done better with the third which went through his legs.

Less creative than usual and caught out of his playmaking qualities. Saw very less of the ball but fought on.

Looked blunt in the first half but tried recovering after the switch in formation. Had a better possession of the ball then and tried creating some chances with good passes but lacked the final pass.
Sydorchuk – 5.5/10
Tried shielding his back line continuosly but was without much support and failed eventually.

Tried to play positively and effectively and linked up with his midfielders. Tried to keep England’s defence busy and had some good shots which went off.
