The Red Bull struggles have inadvertently caught Max Verstappen in the whirlwind in 2024 title fight, as he is unable to fight for the race wins anymore. McLaren’s Lando Norris on the other hand has showcased a steady and dominant performance, enough to oust Milton Keynes from the top. Amidst the heated battle, former F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has highlighted the contingencies required for Verstappen to win the championship over Norris.
Lando Norris is currently just 52 points behind Max Verstappen with six more races left in the season. Bernie Ecclestone reckoned that fending off the in-form Norris for the championship would be difficult. He believes that the Dutchman needs a bit of a luck to come out triumphant. A little bad luck for Norris would also help the 26-year-old seal the trophy.

Despite the dominant performance from McLaren, the team keeps on committing major mistakes costing its driver valuable points. This has enabled Max Verstappen to currently hold onto his championship lead. Ecclestone feels that Verstappen can manage to win the championship because of such contingencies from Woking based team.
Bernie Ecclestone claims McLaren will win the constructors’ championship
Red Bull’s dwindling pace and Sergio Perez‘s continues failure to maximize on point finishes, has put the team in a difficult position, unlike at McLaren where both drivers are scoring consistently. Max Verstappen seems to be the only one fighting for the points in the constructors’ championship for the Austrian team. Hence, Ecclestone believes that McLaren would win the title due to the two very capable drivers they have.
The 2024 season has maximized in racing action and competition since the mid-season. Both the championships are all to win for as multiple teams have set their eyes on the prize. Red Bull must desperately work on their form in order to regain the lead of the constructors’ championship.
