Scuderia Ferrari driver, Carlos Sainz has said that McLaren is now one of, if not the fastest, teams on the grid after consecutive podium finishes for the Papayas. McLaren is currently third in the championship but has closed the gap to second-placed Ferrari, who now lead by a mere 33 points.

McLaren endured a fruitful spell in Barcelona as Lando Norris secured P2 after a strong performance by the Brit, who started on pole for the Spanish Grand Prix. However, a late masterclass by Red Bull’s Max Verstappen saw the Dutch take the win for the second race in a row this season.

Carlos Sainz hence said that McLaren is one of the most complete teams on the grid who appear to have no apparent disadvantage with their car. Sainz also asserted that even though Red Bull leads the championship, the Milton-Keynes outfit has struggled across particular conditions and particular tracks, which has not been the case for McLaren.

I think Red Bull are struggling in certain tracks. Same as us. McLaren is quick everywhere. They're quick in low-speed. They're flat in turn three and nine. They were fastest in turn five. So I just don't see McLaren having any weakness right now. For me, Red Bull is still up there. But McLaren is quick everywhere, which is quite impressive.

Sainz claimed that his former team was quick everywhere in Barcelona after the Ferrari driver finished P6 in a disappointing home race for the Spaniard. The 32-year-old will now look to bounce back in Austria to fight the likes of McLaren and Red Bull, who finished higher than Ferrari this weekend.

A shame. Such a small margin cost us. It was a good race apart from that. From Turn Two onwards, it was pretty much perfect. Can't complain but I lost too much at the beginning.
Lando Norris told SkySportsF1

Norris performed brilliantly in qualifying on Saturday to clinch pole position for the race in Barcelona as he eyed the Grand Prix win. However, a poor start from the 24-year-old jeopardized the race for him as he struggled all afternoon chasing after Verstappen.

Lando Norris has now scored two consecutive podiums and is one of the most promising drivers currently on the grid. He will now look to perform even better to make up for his mistakes in Barcelona and Montreal as he sets his sights on his second win of the season.
