Scuderia Ferrari driver, Carlos Sainz is rumored to have been offered a legitimate four-year contract by Williams Racing. The James Vowles-led team has reportedly been in pursuit of the talented Spaniard since the start of the 2024 F1 season.

Carlos Sainz joined Ferrari at the start of 2021 and has been a successful driver for the Maranello-based team. However, earlier this season, Ferrari announced that they would not offer a contract extension to Sainz and would thus, be signing Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes for 2025.

Ever since the news of Sainz’s departure erupted, Willaims Team Principal, James Vowles has openly expressed his desire to sign the 29-year-old for the coming season. Reports now show that Williams has formally offered him a four-year contract with an option to opt-out after two years.

Carlos Sainz speaks on Ferrari’s outcome in Montreal

Amidst rumors of a contract offer from Williams Racing, Carlos Sainz has called for calm in the Ferrari garage after a disastrous outing for the Reds in Montreal. Both drivers, Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc, suffered a DNF at the Canadian GP.

I think Canada was a bit of a one-off, a bit of a special one and we need to understand what happened as a team. There was clearly something the others were doing in qualifying with the tyres to prep them better.

Ferrari suffered a horrible start to their weekend in Montreal as both drivers, Charles Leclerc, and Sainz, failed to make it to Q3 for the first time this season. The race on Sunday played further to their disadvantage after a rainy start, which forced the Maranello-based team to juggle their strategies throughout the race.

Leclerc was forced to retire after a recurring issue with the power unit, while Sainz had to end his race early after he spun and made contact with Alex Albon‘s FW45 during the closing stages of the 70-lap event. Ferrari now looks to work on their Montreal woes in order to make a strong come back in Barcelona.
