Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc has hoped for a bit of luck following the team’s uncertain run of form this season. The Maranello-based team was miles of the pace as compared to Lando Norris and Max Verstappen at the Singapore GP.

Charles Leclerc started the season in strong fashion, asserting his stance as a fierce title competitor. He secured commendable wins at Monaco and Monza, conquering the likes of McLaren and Red Bull. Leclerc has, however, failed to be consistent with his performances, which has cost him greatly in the title race.

The Monegasque driver has thereafter taken a realistic approach for Ferrari heading into the final six races of 2024. Leclerc has hoped for betterment in his team’s developments while optimizing results as much as possible.

There needs to be a little bit of luck involved on our side, because even if we do really well until the end of the season, it is going to be difficult to go and take the drivers’ title. But I am not really thinking about it now, I’m just trying to focus race-by-race and the worst thing we can do at this moment is to have wrong expectations going forward.

Charles Leclerc told the media including Racingnews365

Lando Norris and Max Verstappen have currently been identified as the prime challengers for the drivers’ championship this season. 52 points separate the two, with all to race for in the North American leg next month.

I don’t think Lewis is going to go to Ferrari and think that he’s going to be able to trounce Charles, because I don’t think he will be able to, because it just won’t be that easy. But I believe he will work very hard. I think he’ll work very hard. I think he’ll integrate himself into the team. And I think that will be the making of the next stage of Ferrari.

Ex-Ferrari engineer Rob Smedley said on the Formula for Success podcast

Former Ferrari engineer Rob Smedley thinks that Lewis Hamilton will not be able to surpass Leclerc easily despite being the brilliant driver that he is. Smedley has praised the 39-year-old’s work ethic and is convinced of the Brit’s positive effect on the team.

Leclerc has been a tireless contributor to the Maranello-based team since joining them in 2019. The Monegasque will therefore be selfless in his efforts regardless of Hamilton’s arrival as his other half in 2025.
