Red Bull driver Max Verstappen has been one of the best drivers in Formula 1 since the late 2010s. Many esteemed personalities have been in pursuit of Verstappen over the years, with Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff being the most prominent of them all.
Max Verstappen debuted for Toro Rosso (RB) in 2015, when he was only 17-years-old. Toto Wolff wanted to sign the young Dutchman but narrowly missed out, which has caused him deep regret ever since.
F1 commentator Alex Jacques has hence deemed that the Austrian boss will be wary to not miss out on young talents for his team. Wolff has thereafter conveyed his intent to sign F2 sensation Andrea Kimi Antonelli for 2025.
One man who is certain about Antonelli’s early F1 promotion is Toto Wolff. Wolff was wounded by missing out on Max Versteppen in 2014. Outmanoeuvred by Red Bull, Wolff is reminded of his failure every single time the Dutchman wins. Having watched Verstappen take 51 wins since March 2021, the resolution to never let another such talent escape can only have hardened.Alex Jacques wrote on the official F1 website
Kimi Antonelli has been rated highly by various individuals, which will be a keen judgement in Wolff’s eyes. He will try to nurture the Italian youngster’s capabilities in order to produce a worthy driver in the near future.
Lewis Hamilton delivers a damning verdict on his hunger for wins
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton is one of the most decorated drivers in the history of Formula 1. He has been racing for over 17 years and is a joint record holder with seven world championships to his name.
I’m super competitive naturally. I don’t care who it is. I just want to win. When I won the other day [at the British Grand Prix], I didn’t think anything about anybody else. I just thought about my team. I thought about people that were with me.Lewis Hamilton via esquire
Lewis Hamilton has spoken of his desire to win regardless of the conditions and the drivers that he goes up against. The 39-year-old has said that he cares only about his team and the people that have supported him throughout the years.
Hamilton has amassed two wins in the last four races after a slow start to the current campaign. He will look to maintain the same intensity to achieve greater victories in his last 10 races for the Silver Arrows after the summer break.
