Max Verstappen is heading into the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix with a golden chance of wrapping up the driver’s title. Several pundits have already shared their stance on this and the latest to join the list is the Ex-F1 driver Giedo van der Garde.

As per the 39-year-old, Max Verstappen has everything in his locker to amass his fourth consecutive world title at the sparkling Las Vegas GP. Interestingly, Verstappen came out victorious in last year’s event as well.

I think it would be nice for him to win the championship in Las Vegas. It’s a fun city. You can have a good party there. But he approaches every weekend more or less the same. And, of course, he knows he can win a title for the fourth time. I’m sure he’ll go all the way. I think he will win in Vegas.

Verstappen is currently leading the drivers’ championship by 62 points over second-placed Lando Norris. The Brit had somewhat closed the gap to the former but it again widened after the Dutchman’s heroics at the Brazilian GP.

Max Verstappen is ‘brilliantly fast’ in Formula 1

While Giedo van der Garde has backed Max Verstappen to equal Sebastian Vettel‘s Red Bull record at the Las Vegas GP, Ex-F1 driver David Coulthard has also applauded Verstappen. The Brit genuinely feels that the 27-year-old is one of the best in the history of F1.

The facts are the guy is brilliant, he’s brilliantly fast. Yes, he’s controversial, but [Ayrton] Senna was controversial. Michael [Schumacher] was controversial. So his drive in Brazil was a lesson to all the other drivers. It was on another level.

Verstappen has received a decent amount of stick during the ongoing season for his aggressive racing. In Mexico, he even received a 20-second penalty for going overboard with his daring moves on Lando Norris.

However, such things don’t bother the reigning world champion. He races aggressively no matter who the opponent is. Verstappen did the same to Lewis Hamilton in 2021 and Norris has got the taste of it this year.

At this week’s Las Vegas GP, things could get a bit ugly if Verstappen follows his same approach in battles toward the north end of the grid. Las Vegas being a street circuit, the walls would be extremely close and the risk factor would get increased 10-fold.
