Lewis Hamilton will join Scuderia Ferrari in 2025 as a replacement for Carlos Sainz. This move has come under scrutiny by many owing to the Briton’s age and recent form. Now, former F1 team boss Eddie Jordan has hit out at Maranello.

Jordan found it bizarre that the Italian team was ready to sack Sainz in favor of Lewis Hamilton. The Irishman claimed that Ferrari Chairperson John Elkann must’ve had ‘rocks’ inside his head for even making such a decision. Many in the paddock have criticized the team’s decision.

The way we saw Sainz, who in their right mind [would replace him]? John Elkann must have rocks in his head to have made that decision

Moreover, Eddie Jordan was worried about Lewis Hamilton‘s recent form. The British driver had confessed that he is struggling to perform in Qualifying. Jordan insisted that these remarks are stuck in his head as tries to identify Hamilton’s mindset ahead of his switch to the Scuderia.

When people say things like ‘I don’t think I’m fast enough anymore,’ that registers in my head. I’m such a person that, yes, I believe in talent; yes, I believe in performance; yes, I believe in speed. But I’m a psychological person. I like to know what’s going on inside that brain.

Carlos Sainz doesn’t understand reason behind Ferrari axe

The Spanish driver had an emotional final outing with the Scuderia at Abu Dhabi. Carlos Sainz was in tears as bid farewell to Maranello. Eddie Jordan claimed that Sainz simply couldn’t fathom why he was removed from the team. Though, the 30-year-old had blamed Lewis Hamilton’s wish to race for Ferrari as the main reason for his exit.

Carlos himself was in tears. He still doesn’t quite understand why he was let go. And to be quite honest, neither do I.

Hamilton is arguably the biggest name in the world of motorsport. It is thus no surprise that Sainz was sidelined to ensure that Ferrari gets the icon in its line-up. Now, fans will be looking forward to see if this highly-anticipated partnership bears fruit next season.
