Red Bull has been leading the field ever since the start of the 2024 season. Though there were some one-offs, the Austrian squad always seemed to have the upper hand over rivals. However, in the intra-team rivalry at Red Bull, Sergio Perez has been completely whitewashed by Max Verstappen. Moreover, the difference in pace was witnessed in the Imola qualifying as the Mexican was eliminated in Q2, seeing everything, fans urged Christian Horner and Co. to replace him with Carlos Sainz.
Qualifying at Imola is always an interesting session. Moreover, the Italian track has so far kept its tradition of producing interesting stories as the old fox, Fernando Alonso, qualified 20th for tomorrow’s race. However, in the next session, Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez were on the fringes of elimination. Both drivers went out for a lap during the closing stages of Q2 and the Spaniard finished in fifth place. However, Perez only managed an eighth 11th place finish in the RB20.
One more interesting fact about the whole thing was that the 34-year-old was beaten to Q3 by Daniel Ricciardo in an inferior machinery.

Witnessing such an underwhelming performance by the Red Bull driver, fans asserted that Carlos Sainz should be brought to Milton Keynes in place of Perez. Furthermore, this consensus falls in line with F1 experts, thus the pressure on the former six-time race winner seems to be piling up.
Carlos Sainz’s future is still not secured for 2025
Despite being one of the three drivers so far, to have won a race this season, the 29-year-old’s future remains vague. Moreover, Sainz has been under constant rumors of moving to Sauber(Audi), Mercedes, and Red Bull, but there has been no confirmation regarding his future yet.

Subsequently, when the Spaniard was asked about his prospects, he gave a dejecting answer conveying the uncertainty regarding his decision.
When I have it, you’ll know. I think so, yeah. It’s not moving too quick.Carlos Sainz said in friday’s press conference
The former three-time race winner claimed that the discussions regarding his future are not moving too quickly. On the other hand, the discussions have slowed down and no breakthrough has been achieved. Apart from this, with the strong pace of the Ferrari, Sainz hoped to claim pole for the race on Sunday and give the Tifosi an iconic Ferrari win.
However, his hope to claim the pole was ruined by Max Verstappen as he claimed the fastest lap and the bragging rights. On the contrary, the Spaniard claimed the fifth spot on the grid and has now set his sights on achieving a strong finish on the much-awaited race day.
